A notable feature of recent mergers and acquisitions activity in Ireland has been the significant involvement of institutional investors and private equity houses principally from Ireland, the United Kingdom and the United States. This has taken the form of "public-to-private" acquisitions of publicly-quoted companies, management buy-outs of private companies and secondary buy-outs. At the same time, venture capital has continued to be an important source of funds for Irish companies in both the early stage and the development stage.
Our dedicated Private Equity & Venture Capital Group comprises lawyers with extensive expertise and experience directly relevant to all forms of private equity and venture capital financing, from the funding of start-ups to the equity and debt financing of public-to-private transactions and all stages in between.
The Group is supported with both expertise and depth of knowledge in each of the specialist fields required in the course of a private equity transaction, including specialists in banking, employment, competition law, property, intellectual property, information technology, tax and pensions law.
Our practice encompasses a broad range of private equity and venture capital transactions, representing:
- private equity providers on management buy-outs and management buy-ins including all "public to private" transactions
- management teams in relation to management buy-outs and management buy-ins
- debt providers on management buy-outs and management buy-ins
- private equity providers and investee companies in relation to investments in start-ups and subsequent rounds of equity funding
- private equity providers, management and/or target companies on exits, including trade sales and IPOs.
