Experience

David has significant experience in the areas of personal injury and product liability, acting for clients in the construction, medical device, pharmaceutical industries, and motor industry. His work covers the defence of tort, public, employer and product liability claims as well as health and safety claims. He also handles contractual disputes, including contractual debt recovery, and helps many of Ireland’s largest companies and state bodies to manage their insurance indemnity issues.

David sits as a member of the Disciplinary Committees of World Rugby, the Irish Rugby Football Union, Guinness Six Nations, European Professional Club Rugby and Guinness PRO 14.

Key highlights include advising:

  • DePuy International Limited regarding the Irish element of worldwide orthopaedic product recall issues and defending civil proceedings on its behalf.
  • John Sisk & Son Limited in proceedings brought on its behalf as well as against it, including, tortious matters, contractual disputes, property damage and subrogation insurance recovery claims.
  • State Claims Agency in proceedings alleging breach of Constitutional and Human rights brought against the State, its Officers and Institutions.
  • Sunderland Marine in relation to various maritime issues involving its insured fleet of vessels, including specific personal injury claims, port collisions and pollution issues.
