For the second year in a row, McCann FitzGerald has been ranked the No.1 law firm in Ireland for Mergers and Acquisitions activity by deal value by Experian Corpfin, one of the leading players in global financial information. McCann FitzGerald topped the Value League Table in 2011 by advising on over €7.7bn worth of deals in a variety of sectors ranging from financial services to pharmaceuticals to technology.
Separately, the Financial Times, in its annual FT Innovative European Lawyers report, recognised and highly commended McCann FitzGerald for its work in the Corporate Law category – the only Irish law firm to be so recognised. The FT credits McCann FitzGerald’s success on its innovative thinking in a series of capital generating measures for Allied Irish Banks, including the development of the first Irish exchangeable offer, to overcome barriers to the sale of the M&T Bank Corporation in the US. They also pointed to the firm’s advisory role on the first use of the Credit Institutions (Stabilisation) Act to inject capital into an Irish bank.
Other recent transactions of note that McCann FitzGerald advised upon include:
- Irish legal counsel to Wells Fargo on the acquisition of LaCrosse Global Fund Services
- Adviser on the sale of Quinn Insurance Limited (under administration) to Liberty Mutual Adviser to Azur Pharma on its merger with Jazz Pharmaceuticals
- Adviser to Allied Irish Banks, p.l.c. on its acquisition of EBS Building Society
